Former Lingerie Football League gets woke

Women’s football league X League kicks off its first season on Friday June 10 in Independence, Missouri. But the league actually has been around since 2009 when it got its start as the sexy Lingerie Football League.
Back then, the women played in bras and panties with minimal athletic protection. They wore shoulder pads and hockey helmets plus knee and elbow pads. But they still showed a lot of bare skin. Naturally there were numerous “wardrobe malfunctions.”
The league inspired other sexy women’s sports leagues including the Bikini Basketball League, Lingerie Basketball League, Bikini Hockey League and Lingerie Fighting Championships. But it was a short-lived phenomenon.
In 2013, the Lingerie Football League rebranded as the Legends Football League. With the rebrand, the uniforms became more sports appropriate. So, no more wardrobe malfunctions.
The recent change to the X League is the second rebranding of the Lingerie Football League. It’s trying to become a legitimate sport now. That means no more cleavage-baring outfits.
Frankly, I’m surprised the league has lasted this long.

The 10 hottest women in the LFL, 2019 edition

Since Google has branded this blog as “adult: sexual content” based on less than 0.5% of its posts, we might as well embrace it. Google’s Blogger platform has an issue with photos of women in bikinis apparently.
So, Tech-media-tainment today will feature its picks for the 10 sexiest players in the LFL women’s football league in 2019. This is the fourth straight year that I’ve attempted this feat.
As Taylor Swift sings on the song “You Need to Calm Down”: “We see you over there on the internet; Comparing all the girls who are killing it.”
Yeah, that’s me. Guilty.
This is no easy job for any red-blooded American man. The Legends Football League is jam-packed with strong, attractive women. Narrowing the list to just a few leaves out a great deal of beautiful, athletic women.
To make the list, the ladies must be active on social media and post a lot of photos. From there, the selection process is purely subjective.

Taylor Boryca

Monique Gaxiola is a center, tight end and linebacker for the L.A. Temptation.

The Lopez sisters

Sisters Marissa and Miriah Lopez play for the L.A. Temptation. Both work in the fitness industry in Los Angeles.

What follows is the second part of Tech-media-tainment’s look at the sexiest women in the Legends Football League, in alphabetical order. (See part one for the first group.)

Chasity Morales

E-sports league getting collectable trading cards

For generations, sports fans have collected trading cards featuring their favorite players in baseball, basketball and other sports. Now Upper Deck is coming out with trading cards featuring players and teams from a professional video game league, the Overwatch League.
It will mark the first time an esports league has had trading cards, according to a May 13 news release touting the deal.
“Overwatch League fans will now be able to buy, open, collect, and trade cards with other collectors across the globe through Upper Deck e-Pack, the patent-pending platform that allows fans to easily access trading card packs from anywhere in the world using a smart phone, tablet, or computer,” the news release said. “What makes the e-Pack system truly unique is the ability for users to get actual physical versions of cards sent directly to them at any time.”
The first Overwatch League-licensed trading card set will release on June 19.
Upper Deck cards have featured the world’s greatest athletes, including Michael Jordan, Serena Williams, Wayne Gretzky, Tiger Woods and more. Are esports players in the same class? Many people don’t even consider esports to be a legitimate sport.
I think it’s premature to put esports players on collectable cards. The Overwatch League only finished its inaugural season last year.
Meanwhile, one sport that could benefit from trading cards is the Legends Football League. The women’s football league, which got its start as the Lingerie Football League in 2009, has been promising trading cards since at least March 2011.
However, to my knowledge, the LFL has never come out with any physical trading cards. It has produced digital images of what the face of the cards would look like. But nothing yet for fans and collectors.
