Actresses who have played Pocahontas in movies

Pocahontas is a popular subject for cosplay and pop-culture artists, but hasn’t been portrayed very often in movies.
I can only find five live-action movies where she has been depicted, excluding a couple of silent films.
What follows is a list of actresses who have played the famous Native American.

Iris Lang, “Time Flies” (1944)

Jody Lawrance, “Captain John Smith and Pocahontas” (1953)

Sandrine Holt, “Pocahontas: The Legend” (1995)

Q’orianka Kilcher, “The New World” (2005)

Samantha McCarty, “Pocahontas: Dove of Peace” (2016)

Funny political artwork of Elizabeth Warren as Pocahontas

Elizabeth Warren, now a U.S. senator, likely scored preferential treatment from employer Harvard University by claiming to have Native American ancestry. That claim has since been debunked and tarnished the political prospects for the liberal Massachusetts Democrat.
The scandal probably ruins any chance Warren has of becoming president someday. She looks like a liar who gained advantage by claiming to be a minority. You can lump her in with NAACP official Rachel Dolezal who passed herself off as black before being outed as white.
President Donald Trump derisively refers to Warren as Pocahontas.
Social media commenters have created funny memes depicting Warren as the famous Native American. What follows are some examples.

Sexy Pocahontas cosplay

Political correctness police are outraged that women would dress up as sexy Pocahontas or sexy squaws for Halloween or costume parties. They think it’s insulting to Native Americans and also is cultural appropriation.
But these revelers are role-playing based on Hollywood movies and TV shows not real-life Native Americans.
What follows are some examples of cosplay featuring Pocahontas or sexy Indians.

Singer Miley Cyrus rocked a Pocahontas costume for Halloween 2009.

Australian model Sophie Turner dressed up as Pocahontas in 2011.

Model Chrissy Teigen and husband John Legend dressed up as a sexy Indian and cowboy couple for Halloween 2008.

Actress Denyce Lawton posed as Pocahontas.

Cosplay actress Aleu Moana dressed up as Disney’s version of Pocahontas.

Cosplay actress Sara Moni also pretended to be Pocahontas.

Model Karla Spice put on a sexy display as Pocahontas for a photo shoot. (Photo at top.)

Photographer Ryan Astamendi took photos of an unnamed model dressed as Disney’s Pocahontas.

Actress Jessica Biel, who is of French, German, English and Choctaw descent, dressed as Pocahontas for a Disney ad campaign shot by Annie Leibovitz.

Emily Fields, played by Shay Mitchell, dress up as Pocahontas in a Halloween episode of “Pretty Little Liars.”

Blair Waldorf, played by Leighton Meester, dressed up as Pocahontas for an episode of “Gossip Girl.”

Sexy Pocahontas artwork, a controversial subject

Rapper-singer Nicki Minaj stirred up controversy when she posted a takeoff on her recent Paper magazine cover that featured a sexualized version of Disney’s Pocahontas.
Bitch Media posted a response article titled “Pocahontas is not a sex symbol,” claiming the real-life Pocahontas was a rape victim who was forced to marry an older Englishman.
Bitch Media writer Abaki Beck said Minaj is contributing to the sexualization of Native American women, which is prominent in pop culture.
Disney’s Pocahontas may have been inspired by a real person, but the Disney character is fictional as is most of the story in the 1995 animated movie.
In the movie, Pocahontas is a young adult, but in reality, she was around 10 or 11 at the time John Smith arrived with the Virginia Company in 1607. There is no evidence of a romantic relationship between Pocahontas and Smith, as the movie depicts.
Also, I’m pretty sure Pocahontas didn’t consult a supernatural talking tree nor have intelligent raccoon and hummingbird friends, as she does in the flick.
Beck doesn’t want Disney’s Pocahontas to be a sex symbol, but based on the plentiful artwork I’ve seen online (by both male and female artists worldwide), she certainly is.
What follows is a review of some of that artwork.

U.K.-based artist Hannah Alexander did an illustration of Pocahontas as part of a series on Disney princesses done in the style of Alphonse Mucha.

Chicago-based artist Tim Shumate reimagined Disney heroines as pin-up girls in one of his illustrated series.

U.S. artist Nina Santucci, aka Wickfield on DeviantArt, made an illustration of Pocahontas in Art Nouveau style.

Russian artist Julia, aka BzikO on DeviantArt, depicted Pocahontas as a sexy pin-up princess.

Ukrainian artist Viria, aka Viria13 on DeviantArt, created a series of illustrations depicting Disney heroines as modern hipsters, including Pocahontas.

Pinup illustrator Elias Chatzoudis also did a sexy depiction of Pocahontas.

Mexican artist Biaani has created a series of pictures showing Disney princesses as pin-up girls, including Pocahontas.

U.S. artist Anna Rigby, aka Cyzra on DeviantArt, created a picture of a sultry Pocahontas.

Canada-based artist Sakimi Chan did a sensuous illustration of Pocahontas.

French artist Moemai did a slinky depiction of Pocahontas.

Russian-born artist Andrew Tarusov depicted Disney heroines as Playboy cover models, including Pocahontas.

In a similar vein, Philippines-based artist Josh Miranda, aka Thataemer on DeviantArt, portrayed a sexy naked Pocahontas.

German artist PinkyPills drew a cartoony picture of a topless Pocahontas.

Mexican artist Camus Altamirano created a cheeky illustration of Pocahontas in thong underwear.

Italian artist Pino Ieno, aka Nippy13 on DeviantArt, did an R-rated depiction of a naked Pocahontas.
