This year was a pretty busy one for post-apocalyptic movies in cinemas. So far in 2017, nine post-apocalyptic movies have been released in theaters.
That tops the five post-apocalyptic movies released in 2016, but is below the record 12 such movies that came out in 2015.
Post-apocalyptic movies released this year have included “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter,” “The Girl with All the Gifts,” “War for the Planet of the Apes” and “Here Alone.”
What follows is a list of post-apocalyptic-themed movies that are expected to be released in the next year. I’ve included movie posters and plot summaries where available.
